Occupational Therapy Australia 27th National Conference and Exhibition 2017

On behalf of Occupational Therapy Australia and the conference management committee, I extend a warm invitation to participate in the 27th Occupational Therapy Australia National Conference, which will be held on the 19-21st of July, 2017 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre in Perth, Western Australia.  This is the premiere event in the continuing professional development calendar, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to hold this in Perth.

The vision for the 2017 conference is ‘Partnership, Inclusion and Innovation’.   Firstly, it is a privilege to hold this event in Noongar Country in Perth, and respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land and pay respects to Elders, past and present.  At a time of unprecedented growth in our professional numbers, change in health and social care systems as well as reorientation of many of the sectors in which we work it is essential for our profession to review and reflect in order for us to grow and develop. We need to be inclusive of colleagues who work within different sectors, to participate in activities that may take us out of our traditional roles and to innovate.  Innovation ensures that we remain relevant but also assist us to develop in the future.  Partnerships between all practitioners, together with consumers is not only inclusive and innovative but ensures our relevance into the future.

The scientific committee, led by their Chair, Dr Mandy Stanley are using the vision to guide the development of an exciting, stimulating and innovative program.  The theme of participation, inclusion and innovation covers many levels, and the scientific committee are developing an excellent program for delegates that will inspire and stimulate; with a platform then to thrive and develop in our practice.

The 2017 conference will provide a forum for sharing ideas, meeting colleagues, discovering new innovations, visiting the exhibition, finding out the latest innovations in education as well as interacting with the  latest research in Occupational Therapy.  Inspiring keynote and invited speakers will share the latest developments and stimulate us to address our practice and challenges.  As the conference is held in Perth, you will also have the opportunity to explore the beautiful but laid back city.  Perth is Australia’s sunniest city, which blends urban cool with raw natural beauty.  It is bustling with bars, restaurants, shopping and cultural spaces, but also includes Kings Park,- one of the world’s largest inner city parks and amazing sunsets.

So, join us in July 2017 to develop and further networks, participate in innovation, listen to the latest research, look at the latest in the exhibition and catch up with colleagues.
